Shoutout for This Week: Dr. Max Lyons on Strengthening Biblical Worldview in Education

Dr. Max Lyons has been serving in Christian education since 1979. Over the years, he has taught in three Christian schools in Virginia, including 19 years at Stonebridge School. Stonebridge became known as a model for the Principle Approach, a teaching method that ties every subject to biblical truth.

Leading at FACE

Today, Dr. Lyons serves as the Director of Teaching Services at the Foundation for American Christian Education (FACE). For the past decade, he has worked with schools, homeschool families, pastors, and churches to strengthen Christian education. His influence extends beyond the United States, as his books have been translated into Portuguese and Spanish, reaching audiences in countries like Brazil and Colombia.

Equipping Teachers

One of Dr. Lyons’ strongest beliefs is that teaching from a biblical worldview should be more than words on a school’s mission statement. It requires clear training and the right tools. Through FACE, he helps schools and teachers gain those tools—whether through curriculum, teacher training, or FACE’s Master Teacher Certification program. His goal is to help every teacher, from history to PE, understand how to integrate faith into their classrooms.

Why His Work Matters

Dr. Lyons reminds schools that if students do not learn from a biblical perspective, they are shaped by the culture around them. Research shows that many Christian students today have a weak understanding of the biblical worldview. Dr. Lyons sees this as a call to action. His vision is for schools to raise teachers who are fully prepared to model and teach truth in every subject.

Lasting Impact

From his decades in the classroom to his leadership at FACE, Dr. Lyons continues to inspire school leaders and teachers. His work proves that Christian education can be both academically strong and rooted in faith. For Dr. Lyons, the mission is clear—equip teachers well, and you equip the next generation to live out their faith in every area of life.
